Recently (August 2024) a research paper was released that shows very promising results with acupuncture when it comes to Diabetes, Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy, and as an adjunct therapy of Cancer. Here is a quick summary of that research.

โ€œIntegrative Analysis of Acupuncture Targets and Immune Genes in Diabetes, Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy, and Adjunct Therapy of Cancerโ€ published in the Journal of Multidisciplinary Healthcare explores the potential mechanisms by which acupuncture can help treat diabetes mellitus (DM), diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN), and serve as an adjunct therapy for cancer.

Key Points:

The study conducted a comprehensive gene expression analysis to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in DM and DPN compared to control samples.

Researchers identified 1,830 potential acupuncture targets and pinpointed 21 key genes in DM and 43 in DPN involved in inflammatory responses, immune processes, and specific signaling pathways.

Distinct immune cell infiltration patterns were observed, including M0 and M2 macrophages, neutrophils, and follicular helper T cells.

The study also created a pan-cancer nomogram model to predict survival based on various factors, linking hub genes to cancer properties.

The findings suggest that acupuncture may have significant effects on immune-related genes and pathways, potentially offering therapeutic benefits for these conditions.
