Acupuncturist Quicktips: simple steps to regulating your weight
It is common for patients to ask:ย How can I lose weight in a quick and healthy way?
Experience shows the following valuable steps help in most cases.ย Fortunately or unfortunately, these steps are quite contrary to the typical American diet and habits.
1.ย Avoid or reduce the intake of sugar and simple carbohydrates.ย This likely seems obvious, but can be easier said than done given the effects of rapid glucose level increases in the bloodstream, making it one of the most addictive substances known to mankind!ย See other blogs and newsletters on the topic of sugar, all based on decades-long research into this topic.ย If you have specific questions on this very difficult topic, do not hesitate to speak directly with one of our Acupuncturists in person or via phone.
2.ย Avoid or reduce the intake of deep-fried foods.ย As good as deep-fried items might taste, they can be very difficult to digest.ย It is likely the high heat needed to cook food submerged in oil breaks down the oils and makes them largely difficult to digest.ย Additionally, most restaurants likely repeatedly heat and cool the oils used in deep frying, destroying the quality of the oil. ย An oftentimes tasty but nonetheless troublesome menu item, indeed!
3.ย Reduce or eliminate dairy from your diet.ย Controversial and sad but true:ย it could be said that dairy in high quantities certainly congests the digestive system and in many cases leads to weight gain.ย Feel free to read other articles, blogs and newsletters we have on this topic.
4.ย Avoid eating late at night.ย As much as a bowl of ice cream may be enticing before bed, the ancient physicians of Chinese Medicine discovered 1000โs of years ago it is best to refrain from eating anything in the 2 hours before going to bed.ย One quick way to actually GAIN weight is to eat anythingโboth healthy or unhealthy itemsโin the 2 hours before laying down to sleep.ย During sleep many of the bodyโs systems including the digestion restsโฆ..thus, eating before bed causes food of any kind to stagnate and โfermentโ and not fully metabolize, which leads to weight gain and further digestive organ breakdown.
Experience over many years shows if a person were to do these things above without misstep for 14-21 days, there would be noticeable changes in 90% of cases with muscle mass or weight or both.ย Patients have reported losing up to 14 pounds over 2 weeks by following these steps above!
If a person desired even more effective changes, exercising 3-5 times per week to the point of at least slight perspiration in that 14-21 time span would also be extremely helpful.ย In cases where any weight changes were minimal after those actions were taken consistently and religiously, it indicates more severe internal metabolic breakdown and a possible deeper hormonal imbalance that may require Acupuncture and/or Chinese Herbal Medicine to resolve.
Do not hesitate to call and speak with any of our Acupuncturists on these topics, we are here to help from 9am-7pm:ย (414) 332-8888.
