Stay Healthy This Autumn: 6 Tips To Keep You Active And Fit
The changing color of the leaves, the slight chill in the air, kids starting school, and Packer football! All of these let us know that autumn is on its way. Autumn is known as the season of changes and it is a fantastic time to make changes to our health. As we prepare to embrace this season, itโs important to prioritize our health and well-being. Here are some tips to keep you and your family healthy and active during this time of the year:
Stay Active: It is very tempting with the cooler weather to stay indoors and curl up with a good book. We would recommend to keep the body moving. Whether it is a walk in nature or raking up leaves. Plan for outside time every day.
Eat Healthy: Consume foods that are known to boost the immune system and are great to have during the autumn. Garlic, ginger, spinach, almonds and most citrus foods are great ways to keep your immune system in tip-top shape. For other food suggestions you can read this post about nutrition: https://holisticacupuncture.net/oriental-nutrition-things-eat-fall/
Stay Hydrated: As the weather gets colder, your body can lose as much fluid as it might in hot climates due to the body using more energy to keep warm. Drinking enough water will also keep your skin supple, which can be a common problem as the weather gets colder and drier.
Get Enough Sleep: With shorter days and time changes our natural circadian rhythms can be thrown off. Try to maintain a consistent sleep pattern of going to bed at the same time and waking up at the same time. Ideally you should be getting at least 7 hours.
Practice Breathing Exercises: When you are stuck in the house due to turbulent weather, it would be a perfect opportunity to practice breathing. Take deep breaths and feel the calmness. There are many different types of breathing exercises, and it is not a one size fits all sort of thing. So try a few and see which one works for you.
Gardening: Getting to feel the dirt and touching the earth is a great way to feel connected. During the fall is a great time to plant bulbs for next spring. Itโs also a great low impact activity that can help with overall health.
Following these tips can keep your healthy and active during this exciting time of the year. If you have any questions feel free to give us a call or contact us via the contact form.
